About Cat's Eye Gemstone
Cat's Eye refers to chrysoberyl displaying chatoyancy — a sharp, single band of light that appears to glide across the stone's surface, caused by parallel needle-like inclusions reflecting light within the gem. True chrysoberyl cat's eye is considered the finest example of this optical effect in any gemstone, prized for a sharp, well-centered "eye" and a honey-to-olive green body color. In Vedic astrology it's traditionally known as Lehsunia or Vaidurya and associated with the planet Ketu, a heritage that drives much of the demand for fine cat's eye alongside its rarity as a natural phenomenon. At 8.5 on the Mohs scale, it's a durable, everyday-wearable gemstone, sourced mainly from Sri Lanka, India and Brazil. Because chatoyancy quality varies enormously from stone to stone, Jamsora certifies every cat's eye independently, confirming it's natural chrysoberyl before it reaches you.
